Tip Runs in Falkirk: Roughmute & Kinneil Kerse Explained
In This Article
The Two Sites
Falkirk Council runs two recycling centres:
- Roughmute — Bogton Road, by Bonnybridge. The main site for Falkirk, Camelon, Bonnybridge, Denny and Larbert.
- Kinneil Kerse — on the A904 Grangemouth Road between Grangemouth and Bo'ness (EH51 0PU). Handier for Grangemouth, Bo'ness and Polmont.
Both open 363 days a year, closing only on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Booking With Your Reg Plate
Falkirk district residents book a slot through the council's recycling centre portal using their vehicle registration number — the plate is your ticket in. No internet access? The council takes bookings on 01324 506070. Proof of Falkirk-area residency applies.
Hours
Summer (April–September): 8am–8pm. Winter (October–March): 9am–6pm. Hours do change, so check the booking portal before you load up.
Rules Worth Knowing
- 3.5 tonne maximum vehicle size at both sites
- Traders need a Small Traders Tipping Permit before using either site — turning up with trade waste in a personal car is how people get turned away
- You unload everything yourself
- Paint needs to be hardened or the tins empty — see our paint disposal guide
When a Tip Run Does Not Cover It
A tip run suits a boot-load and a free morning. It stops suiting you when the job is a cleared garage, a three-piece suite with nobody to lift the other end, several trips' worth of garden waste, or anything on a deadline — slots, opening hours and your own back all get a vote.
The Collection Alternative
We cover the whole Falkirk district daily — rubbish removal Falkirk, Grangemouth, Bonnybridge, Larbert, Denny and Polmont — with same-day slots, all lifting included, from £30. SEPA registered (WCR/R/3011855), so your waste is documented, not just dumped.
Council booking systems, hours and rules change. Details above were checked against council sources in September 2026 — always confirm on the council's own page before you travel.
